A defining feature of George Nelson’s table and wall clocks is the absence of numeric dials. According to the designer, when reading the time, the viewer pays less attention to numbers and more to the position of the hands. Consequently, many of Nelson’s wall clocks—such as the “ Ball Clock ”—captivate with their unconventional shapes and 12 distinctive dots. George Nelson designed a wide variety of table and wall clocks for the Howard Miller Clock Company that embody the spirit of the 1950s and 1960s.
