The S 243 chair combines a tubular steel frame with molded wood for the seat and backrest, showcasing a minimalist yet elegant aesthetic. Designed by Frank Rettenbacher, the chair is characterized by its lightweight, stackable construction, which is ideally suited to modern living and working environments. The clean design distinguishes between the rear, sturdier legs—with a diameter of 25 mm—and the front, slimmer legs—with a diameter of 18 mm—which run visibly from the front to where they connect with the rear legs, lending the chair a distinctive sense of lightness.
