Retro-Style Alarm Clock
The AJ Station alarm clock from the Danish manufacturer Rosendahl is a classic alarm clock designed by Arne Jacobsen as early as the mid-1930s. The elegant, sweeping curves of this alarm clock—which also works well as a table clock—make it not only an attractive design piece for those who appreciate beautiful aesthetics but also a favorite among people who value tradition. In the mid-1930s, Arne Jacobsen designed a villa for H.J. Hansen, the director of Lauritz Knudsen. Hansen recognized the young architect’s potential and asked him if he would be interested in designing a clock. The result was “ & ” electric table clocks with and without an alarm function &, which were first presented in 1939 at the Charlottenborg Spring Fair. Initially, the dial & “Roman & ” adorned the front of the 193 9. Arne Jabosen later used this Roman numeral dial for the city hall clock in Aarhus, among other projects. In 1941, a revised version of the table clock featuring Arabic numerals and new hands was introduced, which was named “ & ” “Station & .” The case of Arne Jacobsen’s “Station” table clock is made of ABS plastic and shatterproof glass. The base is made of metal. The alarm clock is also equipped with LED lighting and a snooze function.
