PH 3½-3 Pendant Light

The " PH 3½-3 " pendant light from Louis Poulsen is part of a series of pendant, floor, and table lamps designed by Poul Hennigsen in 1928. The " PH 3½-3 " pendant light also features the famous reflective three-shade system.

Three-shade system made of opal glass

The lamp’s three shades are crafted from hand-blown, three-layered opal glass in white, with a glossy exterior and a matte, sandblasted interior. This directs most of the light downward, creating a soft and diffuse light distribution. The light is therefore ideal for illuminating the living room or dining room and becomes an eye-catching feature above the dining table.

High-gloss chrome-plated or black metallized brass

The pendant lamp’s suspension is made

of

drawn brass and is available in either high-gloss chrome-plated or black metallized finishes. The dark metal creates an industrial look that, combined with the soft opal glass shade, results in a striking design piece that blends harmoniously into its surroundings.

Architecture and Lighting: Poul Henningsen

Poul Henningsen was born in Copenhagen, the son of the famous Danish actress Agnes Henningsen. He did not earn a degree in architecture, but studied at the Frederiksberg Technical School from 1911 to 1914 and then at the Technical College in Copenhagen from 1914 to 1917. He also began applying traditional functionalist architecture. However, his professional interest soon focused primarily on lighting design—and that is what he is famous for.
