Table lamp with a reflective three-shade system
The PH 2/1 table lamp is part of the 2/1 family by Louis Poulsen , which already includes a chandelier, a pendant lamp, and a wall sconce. The lamp was designed by Poul Henningsen, whose initials form the lamp’s name. The small PH 2/1 table lamp was designed based on the principle of a reflective three-shade system that directs most of the light downward. The three shades are hand-blown by Louis Poulsen from opalized, three-layered glass. The shades are glossy on the inside and sandblasted on the outside, resulting in a soft and diffuse light distribution. The base is available in either drawn aluminum with a high-gloss chrome finish, brass, or black metallized. The fabric cord is black. Thanks to its compact size, the PH 2/1 table lamp offers excellent placement options in rooms where small focal points of light are needed to create a pleasant atmosphere and highlight the room’s dimensions.Architecture and Lighting: Poul Henningsen
Poul Henningsen was born in Copenhagen, the son of the famous Danish actress Agnes Henningsen. He did not earn a degree in architecture, but studied at the Frederiksberg Technical School from 1911 to 1914 and then at the Technical College in Copenhagen from 1914 to 1917. He also began to apply traditional functionalist architecture. However, his professional interest soon focused primarily on lighting design—and that is what he is famous for.Exquisitely Designed Lighting— Louis Poulsen
