Floor Lamp by Verner Panton

The Panthella floor lamp was designed in 1971 by Verner Panton for Louis Poulsen . It is one of Panton’s most popular designs and is characterized by its harmonious, serene form. The semicircular shade provides a soft, pleasant light. The basic principle behind Panthella was to design a lamp in which both the base and the shade serve as reflectors. Panthella It provides both direct and indirect light. The direct light shines downward, while the indirect light is diffused through the white shade. The organic design of the Panthella floor lamp is inspired by the shape of a mushroom. At its tip, the lamp features a chrome-plated sphere. In addition to its aesthetic function, the sphere is used to lift the lamp’s ceiling plate, which must be removed to replace the light bulb. Unused cable can also be stowed in the base of the table lamp. The lamp’s light source is located beneath a milky-white, hemispherical acrylic shade. Together with the trumpet-shaped base, it contributes to the lamp’s wonderful light distribution and harmonious form. Verner Panton’s Panthella lamp is also available as a table lamp.
