Artificial Intelligence Chair

Kartell ’s AI Chair turned heads at the 2019 Milan Furniture Fair. Although the chair is credited to Philippe Starck, the design was actually created by artificial intelligence, as the name AI—“Artificial Intelligence”—suggests. Starck worked for two years with the 3D software company Autodesk on a chair that was intended to meet the requirements of using as little material as possible while achieving maximum stability. Throughout the process, the chair’s form and materials were repeatedly analyzed to achieve the best possible result. The result is a chair that has an organic appearance and bears the signature style of designer Philippe Starck. The chair is made of thermoplastic polymer and is available in various colors.
