Radically Simple Drinking Glasses

The Essence drinking glass series was designed in 2001 by Alfredo Häberli for the Finnish design manufacturer Iittala . The Essence drinking glasses were designed with a simple basic concept in mind. Using as few different glass types as possible, Alfredo Häberli still wanted to serve fine wines in suitable, appropriate glasses. Inspired by the series’ great success and outstanding design, Iittala soon introduced additional Essence glasses. The Essence Iittala ’s collection is an outstanding example of well-thought-out design. When placed side by side, they convey a wonderful sense of balance. This is because the stems and bases of all the glasses are the same size, and the bowls share similar proportions. Iittala glasses are easy to hold and sit comfortably in the hand—we suspect they actually enhance the enjoyment of fine beverages. To round out the experience, the Essence glasses are, of course, dishwasher-safe.
