Plant Pot by Aino Aalto

The “ Riihitie ” plant pot by Artek was designed by Aino Aalto and first presented at the 1937 Paris World’s Fair at the “ Artek ” booth. Even back then, this beautifully shaped plant pot attracted attention, but it was never mass-produced. To mark Finland’s centennial, Artek is introducing the planter in its two original forms. The organically shaped planters are handcrafted from ceramic. Artek ’s reissue is suitable for indoor use and available in various colors. For the color palette, Artek drew inspiration from Aino Aalto’s tilework, which can be found in her homes. Available in three sizes, they are ideal for small flowers and lush plants and can be easily combined with one another.

Organically shaped ceramic pots

Aino Aalto designed the pots for the terrace of her home on Riihitie Street in Helsinki, where Aalto lived with his family until her death. Today, it is a museum, and the pots can still be admired on the terrace.
