Folding Shelving System

The Fläpps shelf from Ambivalenz is a foldable wall shelf that, when closed, sits compactly and extremely flat against the wall and, when unfolded, becomes a multifunctional piece of furniture. Available in various lengths, heights, and colors—with one or more shelves—the Fläpps shelf is ready for any situation, allowing you to customize your living space with the shelves to suit your individual needs. The shelves are made of birch plywood with stainless steel hinges. They are hand-painted and available in various colors. A small felt loop makes it easy to fold down the shelf.

Various Sizes and Functions

The small 40 x 40 cm shelf with one shelf is as square as a sofa cushion, just not as thick. It fits even in the smallest apartments and serves as a nightstand or general storage surface. The narrow, slim shelf (60 x 27 cm) with one shelf is the perfect fit for the kitchen—matching the standard height of kitchen cabinets—and is ideal for storing spices, herbs, oil, or an open cookbook. The medium-sized shelf (60 x 40 cm) with one shelf, featuring a 3:2 aspect ratio, is ideal for the office and keeps file folders neatly in place. The slim shelf (80 x 27 cm) with one shelf takes up very little space yet offers plenty of room for books along its length. The large shelf (80 x 40 cm) is available with one, two, or three shelves and offers space for thick books, vases, coffee makers, and much more. An optional add-on is also available that transforms all Fläpps shallow wall shelves into a shoe rack. All shelves can be combined with each other and with other pieces from the Fläpps series. Together, they can create a custom-designed wall that takes up no space when folded away and is a true space-saving marvel when unfolded. The entire Fläpps series is manufactured near Berlin.
