Designer Ashtray

The “ Spirale ” ashtray is a classic in its product family. The design dates back to 1970 and was initially produced by the Italian company Bacci. However, it wasn’t until 1986 that Alessi took over production of the ashtray. The design is by Achille Castiglioni and offers innovative and intuitive solutions to a variety of problems. Essentially, “ Spirale ” consists solely of a bowl and a “ Spirale .” The “ Spirale ” is located at the rim of the ashtray and allows the cigarette to be placed securely so that it no longer falls into the ashtray. To clean the ashtray, the Spirale can be removed, allowing both the bowl and the tray to be easily cleaned. The design, which is as ingenious as it is beautiful, was slightly modified and resized by Achille Castiglioni in 1986. The “ Spirale ” ashtray by Alessi is also available in a larger version.
