Lightweight Stool Made of Corrugated Cardboard

The “ Wiggle Stool ” stool from Vitra is a signature design piece by architect Frank O. Gehry. Just like the wave-shaped “Wiggle Side Chair,” the stool of the same name is made of lightweight yet sturdy corrugated cardboard. The idea to create seating

out of

cardboard came to Gehry while looking at his architectural models: “One day in my office, I looked at a stack of corrugated cardboard—the material I used to build architectural models—and I started playing with it, gluing it together and cutting it into shape with a hand saw and a pocket knife.” Contrary to the stool’s lightweight appearance, its unique construction and wave-like shape make it exceptionally sturdy.
