Keychain Featuring Girard’s Sun

The “ Key Ring Sun ” keychain from Vitra depicts a smiling sun and was selected by Vitra in collaboration with the Girard family as the design for a metal keychain. The sun is a signature motif of Alexander Girard’s, which can be found on various items at Vitra .

Motifs from Girard’s Estate

Designer Alexander Girard is considered one of the defining figures of postwar American design. During his extensive travels, Girard was an avid collector of textiles and folk art, which served as inspiration for his motifs. After his death, a large portion of Girard’s estate—including hundreds of drawings, prototypes, and samples—was bequeathed to the Design Museum in Vitra . The “ Key Ring Sun ” is made of brass-finish metal with black enamel.
