Vitra ’s Wire Chair DKW is a familiar classic with a fresh new look: Featuring a wooden base and a dark seat shell, this design by Charles & & Ray Eames has been given a modern makeover. As early as 1951, the designer couple Charles & & Ray Eames created the Wire Chair, which served as the template for many other well-known designs—the most famous of which today is likely the Plastic Side Chair by Vitra . With the Wire Chair DKW, Vitra now brings this classic into the present: The popular wooden base and a seat shell in Basic Dark give the DKW a modern look. With its dark finish, the new Wire Chair DKW version emphasizes the transparency of the steel-wire seat shell, while the maple wood base—available in three different variations—gives the chair a cozy character. Upon request, the Vitra Wire Chair DKW is also available in a version with a seat cushion and a version with seat and back cushions. The DKW is also available with plastic glides (for soft floor coverings such as carpet) upon request.
