Armchair made of tubular steel and bentwood
The Langelinie Pavilion in Copenhagen is a postwar modernist building whose simple composition consists of three rectangular boxes of varying sizes stacked on top of one another. Architects Eva and Niels Koppel created modules made of steel and glass that are oriented toward the horizon and offer a view of Copenhagen’s waterfront promenade, home to the famous Little Mermaid. When Norwegian designers Anderssen & amp; Voll were asked to design the stackable “ Pavilion ” armchair for “ & amp;Tradition” for this historic, multifunctional venue, they sought to blend the classic modernism of the building’s 1950s design with a new modernism. & “Typically, tubular chairs from the 1950s are quite angular, with a certain rigidity. We wanted a softer look that was still stable,” said Espen Voll. With soft curves and a graceful silhouette
From every angle, the “ Pavilion ” chair creates a light, lyrical, and graceful silhouette. The chair is made of bent steel tubing and bentwood. The frame, seat, and backrest are visually coordinated, resulting in a chair that blends timelessly and elegantly into any setting. Its soft, generous curves and the delicate steel tubes of the frame make it a real eye-catcher. It looks great as a dining chair, in the kitchen, at a desk in a child’s room, as well as in modern cafés or stylish hotels. The chair is available in various versions, with or without upholstery, and also without armrests.
