Modern Bentwood Chair

In 2007, Stefan Diez designed the 404, a chair that draws inspiration from the classic bentwood chairs of Thonet , but has been transformed and given a contemporary design in terms of both aesthetics and technology.

Curved surfaces that provide comfortable give

The chair is crafted from solid beech or oak. The curved chair legs and armrests converge at a “ & ” and are recessed from below into the ergonomically shaped seat, which provides a pleasant give and ensures a high level of seating comfort. Thonet ’s 404 chair is also available as an armchair and in upholstered versions with leather and fabric covers.
