Classic Stool Made of Wicker and Bentwood

The 214 RH stool, designed by the brothers Thonet in 1800 for Thonet . This classic bar stool combines bentwood with wicker. The stool’s legs are crafted from beech wood using traditional bending techniques, while a ring of wicker provides the bar stool with additional stability and serves as a footrest for greater seating comfort. The round seat is available as a supple, contoured seat. The sturdy wood makes the stool a practical and sociable companion for everyday use, whether at home or in a restaurant.

Thonet Brothers

In 1853, the sons of Michael Thonet —Franz, Michael Jr., August, Josef, and Jakob—joined the company Gebrüder Thonet in Vienna. After their father’s death in 1871, they jointly took over management of the company. They played a key role in the development of new machinery and production processes and introduced a wide range of innovations as well as a constant stream of new furniture designs. At the end of the 1 9. and the beginning of the 20., the third generation of the family joined the company: Karl, Julius, Theodor, Alfred, Victor, and Richard. During their tenure, they, too, designed a wide variety of new furniture and products.
