The " Wagenfeld " lamp is one of the most famous lamps of the Bauhaus era. The WG 25 version of this world-renowned lamp was designed in 1925 by Wilhelm Wagenfeld (1900–1990). Unlike the original WG 24, the WG 25 features a nickel-plated metal tube instead of a glass tube. The glass base is identical on both models.
After completing an apprenticeship at a silverware factory and attending a drawing academy, Wilhelm Wagenfeld was accepted as a journeyman into the world-famous Bauhaus workshop, where he created his classic lamp, also known as the “ Wagenfeld ” lamp or the Bauhaus lamp. With his designs in metal and glass, Wagenfeld became one of the most important industrial designers of his time.
The W lamp by Wilhelm Wagenfeld is available in numerous versions. The WG 25 lamp features the characteristic opal-colored glass dome. The base of the lamp is made of glass, and the tube is made of nickel-plated metal.
The Wagenfeld lamp is manufactured by Tecnolumen according to Wilhelm Wagenfeld ’s original dimensions and materials. Tecnolumen produces the only copyright-protected and authorized reissue of the Wagenfeld lamp. All lamps therefore bear the Bauhaus and Tecnolumen logos.
