Reissue of a Classic Light Fixture
Birdy is a lighting series by Northern that was originally designed in 1952 by the Norwegian designer Birger Dahl. In 1954, the table lamp—then still known by the somewhat cumbersome name “s-30016”—was awarded the highly esteemed gold medal at the Milan Triennale. In 2013, Northern decided to reissue the lamp series without compromising the original form and unique characteristics of the original design.Adjustable lampshade
The table lamp’s design is characterized by its nearly cylindrical shade, which is supported by a delicate, two-part frame and thus resembles the silhouette of a bird from the very base. The table lamp owes its current name to this association. Using the two joints, the lamp head can be easily directed in the desired direction, providing light exactly where it’s needed. The bright, focused light illuminates a desk while working, for example, or—when placed on a side table or dresser—creates atmospheric lighting in any room. The Birdy table lamp is available in various painted finishes as well as metal frames in metallic, brass, or black.
