Most people have a stool at home at some point in their lives. But how often is its design taken for granted? Reinterpreting something as simple as a stool was therefore the starting point for Normann Copenhagen ’s design for Tap . Designer Simon Legald took on the challenge and breathed new life into the stool through original materials and details. In doing so, he created a design that is both practical and beautiful, straddling the line between craftsmanship and industry.

Wooden legs with a seat made of rigid foam

Tap is surprising, different, and yet familiar. A tap versatile stool with a character all its own. For the seat, Normann Copenhagen used a lightweight rigid foam that—just like rubber—has a flexible, closed-cell surface. This makes it Tap it is stain-resistant, durable, and easy to clean. The molded seat ensures excellent comfort and gives the stool the inviting look familiar from upholstered furniture. The connection between the three wooden legs and the seat is an integral part of the design. As a result, Tap a visually cohesive unit even when viewed from the side.
