Cast-iron candleholder for block candles
In Norse mythology, Heima "home" or "world"—the Heima Normann Copenhagen ’s block candle holder is thus a symbol of domestic well-being. Designed by Francis Cayouette, this cast-iron block candle holder features a minimalist, Nordic design. In his interpretation of the classic candleholder, French-Canadian designer Francis Cayouette drew inspiration from the Nordic tradition of the open hearth and the 1950s arts and crafts movement, which made extensive use of cast iron. The result is a candleholder with a distinctive design that pays homage to artisanal craftsmanship and Nordic traditions. The rough, almost cold surface lends the block candleholder Heima character, while the rounded forms come together to create a modern design.Open Fireplaces as the Designer’s Inspiration
Francis Cayouette himself says: “Crafts must have a distinctive character and a story. I’ve always been fascinated by the Nordic tradition of lighting and coziness created by an open fireplace, and working on this candleholder was a choice that came naturally. Cast iron is an exciting raw material that has been in use for many years. It feels good to the touch and gives the candleholder its contours. The block candleholder Heima is simple and doesn’t steal the show from anyone, but instead makes room for its actual function: the open flame.” To clean the Heima candleholder, Normann Copenhagen recommends warm water and a dry cloth. If there are any unwanted wax residues Heima , place the product on a sheet of parchment paper in the oven. After five minutes at about 250° C, remove Heima it out of the oven and wipe off the remaining wax. Caution: The object will be very hot.
