Unikko by Maija Isola

Unikko was designed by Maija Isola in 1964 and has become a global icon of print design. The founder of Marimekko , Armi Ratia, initially believed it was impossible to capture the essence of real flowers in print, which led to their exclusion from the collections. In response, Isola designed Unikko as an abstract representation rather than a photorealistic depiction. Today, Unikko symbolizes joy and creativity and fits seamlessly into the design ethos of Marimekko .
