Siirtolapuutarha is the somewhat cryptic name of the series from which Marimekko ’s plate comes. The Finnish word roughly translates to “ & ” “allotment garden & ” and describes the colorful mix of products in the series. Just as colorful is the story behind the Marimekko Oiva Siirtolapuutarha plate: The iconic Siirtolapuutarha pattern was designed by Maija Louekari, while Sami Ruotsalainen designed the shape of the Oiva plate.
