In 1953, when Vuokko Eskolin-Nurmesniemi joined Marimekko , she introduced Piccolo, a striped fabric pattern featuring lively brushstrokes. Three years later, the Jokapoika shirt (Every Boy) made from this fabric became a staple in stores and on the streets—one that seems to have stood the test of time.
