Designer lamp made of hand-blown glass
The " PH 4½-3½ " floor lamp by Louis Poulsen is an elegant lamp featuring Scandinavian design. The three-part shade is made of hand-blown opal glass and casts a beautiful glow in any room—whether in the living room, bedroom, or home office. Designer Poul Henningsen drew inspiration from the logarithmic spiral to create a particularly beautiful light based on scientific principles. Today, this lamp—designed in the 1920s—is a versatile classic and a staple of interiors around the world.Highest-quality materials for first-class design
The lamp was designed based on the principle of a reflective three-shade system that directs most of the light downward. The shades are made of hand-blown, opalized, three-layered glass—glossy on the outside and matte sandblasted on the inside—which results in a soft and diffuse light distribution. The base and stem are made of high-gloss chrome-plated brass and steel.Architecture and Lighting: Poul Henningsen
Poul Henningsen was born in Copenhagen, the son of the famous Danish actress Agnes Henningsen. He did not earn a degree in architecture, but studied at the Frederiksberg Technical School from 1911 to 1914 and then at the Technical College in Copenhagen from 1914 to 1917. He also began to apply traditional functionalist architecture. However, his professional interest soon focused primarily on lighting design—and that is what he is famous for.Exquisitely Designed Lighting— Louis Poulsen
