Arne Jacobsen not only designed the building, but also created the entire interior, including furniture, cutlery, textiles, and lighting, thereby creating one of the world’s first design hotels.\r\nThe AJ wall lamp is based on the same principles as the AJ floor lamp. However, the shade was enlarged to make it more suitable for use as a task light. The standard lamp consists of a lamp holder housed in an enameled brass tube. A tilt mechanism is integrated into the tube.\r\nThe angles of the conical metal shade are designed to match the angle of the lamp holder—or at least that was the intention—but in reality, the angle has been slightly adjusted for optical correction. When the lamp is tilted downward, the edge of the lamp holder is horizontal.\r\nThe interior of the shade on the AJ wall lamp by Louis Poulsen is finished in matte white enamel. The shade effectively shields the light bulb; you cannot see into the light source.
