In those days long past, the baskets were used primarily by fishermen and farmers—or by anyone who needed reliable carrying and storage solutions that could withstand the elements. Since then, the baskets have continued to be hand-woven using exactly the same technique. The unique construction—in which a single wire is woven by hand without any welded joints—gives the baskets exceptional durability.

Galvanized Steel or Stainless Steel

Korbo ’s baskets are available in two steel varieties—galvanized steel or

stainless steel

. Both varieties are rust-resistant.
Galvanization is a process used to prevent corrosion by applying a physical barrier of zinc to the surface. Galvanized steel has been used successfully for over 150 years, and over time, the wire develops a beautiful, matte patina. Stainless steel, on the other hand, contains nickel and molybdenum, which combine with the steel to form a completely rust-free alloy. Unlike galvanized wire, stainless steel is not only protected from corrosion on the surface but is completely rust-free. Stainless steel baskets remain shiny, no matter what environments or weather conditions they are exposed to.
