Decanter Wine Carafe Made of Hand-Blown Glass

The Decanter wine carafe was designed by Antonio Citterio and Toan Nguyen in 2004 for the Finnish design manufacturer Iittala . A wine decanter serves two purposes: it should allow the wine to breathe so that its aroma and bouquet can fully develop, and it should highlight and showcase the ruby-red luster of fine vintage wine. The Decanter fulfills both of these requirements. Citterio and Nguyen have created a hand-blown decanter in which every detail has been reduced to its purest, most essential purpose. With its clean, balanced lines, the decanter from Iittala pairs well with many wine glasses—especially those from the Essence series at Iittala .
