The word “Kastehelmi” means “dewdrops” in Finnish. The hot flame and the cool dewdrops create wonderful reflections that emanate from this mood lighting. As a result, the Kastehelmi Votive lanterns had already become one of Iittala ’s most successful series by that time, until production was discontinued in 1988.\r\nIn the 1960s, Oiva Toikka sought a way to conceal the seams in pressed glass. This led him to the idea of placing small glass droplets on the seams. His experiment evolved into a completely new design, which was reissued by Iittala .
