Tealight Holders by Oiva Toikka

First introduced in 1964, Kastehelmi Votive Iittala ’s tea light holders have since become legendary. While they were a true revolution in glassmaking at the time, they have since matured into classics. ’s Kastehelmi Votive Iittala ’s designs combine two elements: water and fire. The word “Kastehelmi” means “dewdrops” in Finnish. The hot flame and the cool dewdrops create wonderful reflections that emanate from this mood lighting. As a result, the Kastehelmi Votive lanterns had already become one of Iittala ’s most successful series by that time, until production was discontinued in 1988. In the 1960s, Oiva Toikka sought a way to conceal the seams in pressed glass. This led him to the idea of placing small glass droplets on the seams. His experiment evolved into a completely new design, which was reissued by Iittala . The Kastehelmi Votive Oiva Toikka’s pieces are available in many atmospheric colors.
