Charming wooden wobbly figure

A “ Hoptimist ” made of wood—just as designer Gustav Ehrenreich originally envisioned it. That’s why Lotte Steffensen redesigned the “ Woody Bumble .” Ehrenreich, who created the “ Hoptimist ” in the 1960s, was a trained cabinetmaker. From the very beginning, his greatest wish was to produce the “ Hoptimist ”—which have since become classics—out of wood, but this was not possible with the techniques available at the time. Time, however, worked in favor of this development: to make Ehrenreich’s dream a reality, the cheerful Bimbles are now also available in wood.

Design Meets Handcraft

This is a true work of artisanal craftsmanship, a high-quality product assembled entirely by hand. The oak wood comes from sustainably managed European forests. This natural material gives each individual “ Hoptimist ” its distinctive look. A special detail: The eyes are inlaid with wenge wood, lending the figure its liveliness.
