The Beetle series by the design duo Stine Gam and Enrico Fratesi—GamFratesi—is a perfect example of how nature serves as a model in the modern world. The idea for the Beetle series was born when GamFratesi took a detailed look at the anatomy and aesthetics of beetles. The two were particularly fascinated by the interplay between the insect’s shell and its inner workings: The hard shell protects and cradles the beetle’s vulnerable, soft interior, while also giving it an elegant look.
