Gubi ’s Bagdad Portable rechargeable lamp reduces the original 1954 design to half its size. The more compact form not only gives the iconic lamp a sense of lightness but also makes it particularly portable: The scaled-down “tail” serves as a practical handle for moving it around with ease—whether inside the home or outside, wherever atmospheric lighting is needed. The lamp’s shadow is created by three folded and welded steel parts that together form a geometric 20-sided shape. Each of the triangular sides can serve as a base, allowing the lamp to be positioned both upright and at various angles—depending on the desired effect.
