Delicate Lamp Made of Washi Paper

The table lamp by the Italian-Japanese design team Luca Nichetto and Nendo is named “ Kurage ,” which corresponds to the Japanese word for “jellyfish.” With its delicate, voluminous shade and four slender legs, the lamp truly resembles this graceful marine creature and perfectly embodies its elegance.

The shade is made of Japanese washi paper, which is crafted from the fibers of the mulberry tree. This creates an even distribution of light that provides a soft, warm ambiance. One smooth side and one rough side give the shade an additional interesting surface texture. The lamp’s cord is sheathed in paper fibers, both to secure the inner cable and to complement the delicate design. Natural-colored ash wood legs complete the lamp’s delicate overall appearance and convey an elegant lightness with Asian charm.
