Shiny pendant light with a floral pattern on the inner shade

The Skygarden pendant light collection was designed in 2007 by Marcel Wanders for the Italian lighting manufacturer Flos . Skygarden It provides diffused light and surprises with a mix of materials unusual for a pendant light: The interior of the dome consists of machined cast plaster, which resembles antique stucco work with floral motifs. The outer surface is available in two glossy finishes (black and white) and two matte finishes (rust brown and gold). Skygarden It comes in two sizes ( Skygarden 1 / Ø 60 cm and Skygarden 2 / Ø 90 cm). The light source inside the dome is encased in a diffuser made of double-layered, hand-blown opal glass, the lower edge of which is adorned with a laser-cut metal pattern.

Design Inspired by Stucco Ceilings

According to designer Marcel Wanders, the Skygarden lamp was inspired by an old stucco ceiling.
& “In my previous home, I had a fabulous antique stucco ceiling. I called it my ‘ Skygarden .’ It always looked great—without any green thumb or any kind of maintenance. It needed neither water nor sun and thrived solely on the warm glow of the electric light beneath it.
I loved it so much that I couldn’t leave it behind when I moved out. I had to find a way to take it with me to my new home. So I grabbed my tools and took it down from the ceiling. This fabulous piece of history is now hidden in a small architectural nook in the heart of my new home, where I can share it with friends.
