Electrical cables are usually a necessary evil. They provide power to electrical devices, but they also tend to act as trip hazards or create an unsightly & “tangle of cables & ” in the corner. So why not simply make a virtue out of necessity, thought the three Swedish designers from “Form Us With Love,” and turned the cable into the lamp’s defining design element Cord Lamp for the Design House Stockholm .

Optical Illusion

Rising straight up from the tangle of cables on the floor, the lamp is crowned by a simple round or, optionally, slender light bulb. This optical illusion is made possible by a narrow steel tube sheathed in the black-and-white textile fabric characteristic of cables. The transition between the tube and the cable is thus invisible, ensuring a surprise effect when the cable rises from the tangle and begins to glow.
