Iconic " Kubus " Candle Holder

With a keen sense of contemporary, functionalist style, Mogens Lassen designed the iconic Kubus candleholder in 196 2. Mogens Lassen had been working on the Kubus candleholder until he arrived at the form we’ve known since 1962. Although the renowned architect and designer may have suffered from dyslexia, his sense of proportion and mathematics was impeccable: every single Kubus was constructed with great precision and a precise aspect ratio. Lassen left absolutely nothing to chance. Mogens Lassen originally designed the Kubus 1 for a restaurant in Zealand, for which he also designed the rest of the interior. Just as its creator intended, the geometric candlestick brought people together around the tables and captivated them with its strikingly simple yet unusual form. To this day, the Kubus 1 Audo ’s candleholders still adorn this restaurant—but now many more people can enjoy this iconic design. Even today, the Audo Kubus 1 candleholders are still crafted by skilled artisans in Holstebro, Denmark, representing true Danish craftsmanship.
