Influenced by the German Bauhaus movement, he experimented with this material beginning in 1927 and created numerous designs together with his wife, Aino Aalto. The design for Chair No. 65 was created between 1933 and 193 5. Despite its early origins, the chair has lost none of its charm to this day and, like almost all Aalto products, features the characteristic organic L-shape. Its legs are bent and were subsequently covered with birch veneer.
