After Valentina was discovered by a famous choreographer during a street performance, she decided to give up her career as an accomplished belly dancer and become a ballet dancer. An extraordinary decision for an elephant. She was joined by a little mouse who had never before seen an “ Ballerina ” with such great potential. Since then, the mouse has been managing the elephant, and together they successfully perform as the world’s most unusual and radiant ballet duo. The “ Ballerina ” music box is part of the limited edition series from the Circus Collection by Alessi . It was designed by Marcel Wanders. The melody is the song “ & ” “Entry of the Gladiators & ” by Julius Fučík, which has become known worldwide as the opening song of every circus show. Turning the elephant sets the mechanism in motion, whereupon Valentina gracefully performs her pirouettes to the famous melody.

High-Quality Materials & & Handcrafting

The “ Ballerina ” music box from Alessi is a sculptural object for connoisseurs and is available in a limited edition of 999 pieces. It consists of a total of 18 stainless steel parts, which are assembled using four different manufacturing processes. The lost-wax casting process is used for complex design elements with fine details; CNC machining is used for mechanical details requiring precise execution; and the flatbed laser cutter is used for complex geometric shapes. The fourth method, metal pressing, has long been used by Alessi for production. The music box mechanism is crafted using traditional Swiss craftsmanship. The elephant consists of three parts that are welded together using laser technology. The ball on which the elephant balances is finished with a thin layer of gold. The colored parts of the music box are painstakingly hand-painted, which is why minimal variations may occur. However, this is not a flaw; rather, it makes each individual music box a truly one-of-a-kind piece. This limited-edition music box is a special gift idea and an unusual collector’s item with sculptural charm.
